Callaway Handicapped Scoring System
The Callaway Handicap System is designed to even out scores by adjusting them based on your worst holes. This makes competition more balanced, giving players of all skill levels a chance to win.
How It Works:
- Score Adjustment: Depending on your total score, a certain number of your worst holes (up to six) will be deducted from your round. This number increases as your score increases.
- Table Reference: The Callaway table specifies how many of the worst holes are deducted based on your score. For example, if you shoot between 86 and 90, two of your worst holes are deducted.
- Special Adjustment: An additional adjustment factor (from -2 to +2) is applied based on your score bracket to fine-tune the handicap.
Key Rules:
- No Extreme Scores: No hole can score more than double its par value.
- Rounding Rules: Half strokes are rounded up, ensuring the calculation is straightforward.
- Hole Selection: Typically, the last few holes (usually 17th and 18th) aren’t deducted to prevent manipulation of the handicap by more experienced players.
