Statistically, only 9.2% of Americans will actually make their resolutions last through the new year. Whether that resolution is to lose weight, quit smoking, save more money, etc, all of these are pretty large undertakings. But, keeping your 2019 resolutions is totally possible, and here are a few tips to help you be part of that 9.2%!

Set Reminders

Whether it’s an alert on your phone or a sticky note on your bathroom mirror, we all need a reminder now and then about what our goals are. This will help to keep your eye on the prize and away from any temptations!

Track Milestones

Start with small goals and work up to the big ones. First, focus on getting to the one-week mark, then the one-month, and so on. Doing this can make a large feat feel much smaller.

Setbacks Can Happen

If your resolution is to lose weight, stop drinking soda, save more money, whatever it may be, setbacks can still happen. If they do, that doesn’t mean that you have to give up for the rest of the year and resolve to making it your 2020 resolution. Keep up with goals, even if you succumb to a craving for a juicy burger or an ice-cold soda, you shouldn’t give up. Call it a minor slip-up and get back to your resolution the next day. Remember, it’s about long-term goals and self-health, not only the short-term.

Get Support & Talk About It

When you share your journey with others, it fosters accountability. You are more likely to maintain your 2019 goals if you have people to talk to or that are on the same journey as you. Share your resolutions and that may just help you to maintain them!

These are just a few tips and tricks to help you keep your New Year’s Resolutions. I hope that these are useful and will make you part of that special 9.2%!
